here’s my story…

My roots go back to a small town in western Michigan called Rockford, where a picturesque flowing river runs smack dab through the middle of town and Rocky’s, the ice cream stand on Main Street, has lines that wind around the corner during the humid summer evenings.

I gravitated from a tiny Catholic grade school in this idyllic community to one of the biggest public high schools in the state, using sports (basketball and soccer) and studies to pass the time with a group of best friends that still reach out across five states and three time zones to continue sharing life’s experiences.

And those life experiences formed the Midwestern work ethic I continue to bring to every job I undertake. I’m particularly proud of that.

The next chapter of my life began in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan and wrapped up in Tempe at Arizona State after a transfer became necessary to get into an arts program better suited to my graphic-design career ambitions. Yes, I’m still a dyed-in-the-wool Wolverine fan.

After five years of hard work and a graduation ceremony that went way too long, I was off with degree in hand to begin climbing the career ladder at several jobs in the private sector before returning to the world of academia where I held graphic designer positions at two different universities – including my alma mater. Fear the Fork!

It’s hard to believe, but I passed the big 3-O birthday awhile back. But the good part of that shocking revelation is I have a wealth of experience, but also the motivation and burning desire of youth to show the world what good graphic design is all about.

Maybe I can bring some of that to one of your jobs.
